Everyday Buddhist, a project of Orange County Buddhist Church, is a website offering a variety of online courses in Buddhism open to all. Each course is presented as a series of videos that students may watch at their own pace. Some courses are free and others range from $10-$39, with discounts for bundling courses.

Courses are organized into three main categories: Buddhist Basics, Everyday Practice, and Deeper Study. A course brochure recommends beginning with the free course “Become Happy” presented by Rev. Marvin Harada. This course is comprised of three videos of between 8 and 12 minutes each.

To provide a sampling of other courses, here are three featured in the Everyday Buddhist brochure:

  • From Siddhartha to Shakyamuni: A personal story of awakening by Rev. Jon Turner ($39)
  • From Practical to True Buddhism: Initially, we seek to find help in our everyday lives but ultimately Buddhism reveals a deeper truth by Rev. Marvin Harada (Free)
  • Seven Pure Land Masters: Their lives and unique teachings by Rev. Dr. Mutsumi Wondra ($39)

In addition to the faculty noted above, guest lecturers include Rev. Dr. David Matsumoto, Dr. Nobuo Haneda, and Gregg Krech.
